Recording of the traditional 2001 Vienna New Year's Concert, with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. The program brings together waltzes, polkas, galops and marches by the Strauss family and Joseph Lanner, and includes pieces such as «An der schönen blauen Donau», «Morgenblätter» and «Radetzky-Marsch».
Live digital recording (DDD), with 17 tracks spread over two discs; the second adds a block of encores.
Will appeal to classical music fans, especially those who enjoy waltzes and polkas from the Viennese tradition performed by a great orchestra.
