«A Casa da Poesia» is a children's poetry book by José Jorge Letria, published by Terramar in hardcover (32 pages, in Portuguese).
The book invites readers to imagine that poetry also has a house: a welcoming place, different from real houses, full of verses that rhyme or not, with varied sounds, colors and rhythms. Those who peek into its pages may laugh or be moved, and each poem hides a particular melody that invites you to cross the door into a world of fantasy.
With illustrations by Rui Castro, the book was published in 2003 and is included in the Plano Nacional de Leitura recommendations for the 4th grade, intended for autonomous reading.
For primary school children, especially those who are consolidating autonomous reading, and also as school support to discover poetry in a playful way.
José Jorge Letria OL is a Portuguese poet, writer and musician. He is the current president of Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores.
