«A mãe de um rio = La mère d'un fleuve» is a narrative work by Agustina Bessa-Luís, published by Guimarães Editores in paperback (51 pages).
The narrative evokes a mythical time when the Earth was square and a river of fire ran across its surface: birds and plants did not yet exist, and the waters remained in the air like iron mist, without the winds having distributed them to the four ends of the world.
The French translation is by Françoise Debecker-Bardin, and the volume brings together that text with the original in Portuguese.
It will interest readers of contemporary Portuguese literature and those seeking bilingual editions in Portuguese and French.
