«À Mélie, sans mélo» is the contemporary novel by Barbara Constantine, published by LGF/Le Livre de Poche in paperback (256 pages, in French).
Mélie, 72, lives alone in the countryside and receives a visit from her granddaughter Clara for the summer: despite a health problem, Mélie puts it off and fills those days with simple moments, like watching the bamboos grow with La Traviata, singing Nougaro songs in the rain and tasting roadside herbs, and she will also experience an unexpected love.
The original French edition was published in 2008; this paperback edition from Le Livre de Poche appeared in January 2010.
Recommended for readers of contemporary fiction and for those seeking stories about the relationship between grandmothers and granddaughters and life in the countryside.
