«Així és la vida, Carlota» is the young adult novel by Gemma Lienas, published by Estrella Polar in paperback (152 pages, in Catalan).
Carlota faces her parents' separation and the slow recovery of her friend Ramon after a serious accident. The novel combines this new stage with everyday teenage experiences: unrequited loves, family frictions, calls with friends and laughter, and shows the protagonist growing through bittersweet moments.
It is part of the Carlota series and continues the events of «Cul de sac». It received an IBBY Honor Mention in 1990; the work was originally published in 1989 and this edition is from 2009.
Recommended for readers aged 12 and up looking for realistic stories about adolescence and family conflicts.
