«Al otro lado de la raya» is the children's and young adult novel by María Luisa De León González, published by M.A.R. Editor in paperback (154 pages, in Spanish).
Elías arrives at a boarding school where he is separated from his sister. Amid the strictness of the nuns, the teacher and the priest, and other children, he learns to act brave so as not to cry. Magical tales and nature allow him to transform fear: a white bird and the tree El Tejo take on special meaning in his imagination.
Fourth title in the Liliput collection, awarded an honorable mention at the Liliput Prize.
Children and young adult readers interested in stories about childhood in boarding schools and the Spanish postwar period.
