«Alexis o el tratado del inútil combate» is the novel by Marguerite Yourcenar, published by RBA in paperback (159 pages, in Spanish).
Alexis, a man tormented by a secret, addresses his wife in a long letter in which he reveals his homosexuality and reconstructs the reasons for his silence. That intimate confession becomes an examination of repression, identity and the search for self-acceptance in a society that rejects sexual diversity.
Originally published in 1929 as «Alexis ou le traité du vain combat»; this Spanish edition includes the translation by Emma Calatayud and belongs to the Narrativa actual collection (number 88).
For readers of French literature, classics with LGBT themes and novels of psychological introspection.
