«Alzatevi, Andiamo!» is the autobiographical work of John Paul II, published by Mondadori in hardcover (175 pages, in Italian).
«Alzatevi, Andiamo!» continues the memoirs that John Paul II began in «Dono e mistero» and gathers his recollections from 1958, when he started his episcopal ministry, reflecting on the Christian vocation. The book's title, meaning 'Rise, let us be on our way', refers to the words of Jesus in Gethsemane and the call to follow Christ.
The 2004 edition of the book includes at the end notes, biblical quotations and documents of the Magisterium, as well as an index of names.
For readers interested in the figure of John Paul II, Catholic spirituality and memoir literature.
Pope John Paul II was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City from 16 October 1978 until his death in 2005. He was the first non-Italian pope since Adrian VI in the 16th century, as well as the third-longest-serving pope in history, after St. Peter and Pius IX.
