«Anillos para una dama» is a play by Antonio Gala, published by Júcar in paperback (112 pages, in Spanish).
The play revolves around Jimena, widow of El Cid, who wishes to stop being merely the hero's symbol and live again as a woman capable of loving. Her aspirations clash with a society that has turned her into memory and myth, denying her the chance to rebuild her life. Antonio Gala thus constructs a drama about freedom and the weight of destiny.
It belongs to the Biblioteca Júcar collection (no. 11) and includes an introduction by Ángel Fernández Santos.
It is a work for readers of contemporary Spanish theater and reinterpretations of historical figures such as El Cid.
Antonio Gala Velasco was a Spanish poet, playwright, novelist, and writer.
