«Melocotón en almíbar / Ninette y un señor de Murcia» is the theater volume by Miguel Mihura, published by Austral in paperback (240 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together two comedies representative of Miguel Mihura's humor: «Melocotón en almíbar», premiered in 1958, and «Ninette y un señor de Murcia», from 1964. In the first, a group of robbers takes refuge in an old woman's apartment; in the second, a man from Murcia visiting Paris falls in love with the daughter of Spanish exiles. Both combine agile dialogue, intrigue and gentle criticism of social conventions, with the author's hallmark of absurd, everyday humor.
Works by Miguel Mihura originally published in 1958 and 1964. This Austral edition belongs to the Contemporánea collection and includes a prologue by Antonio Mingote and a reading guide by Luis Fernández Fernández.
For readers of 20th-century classic Spanish theater and for students who want to approach Mihura's humor with the support of the reading guide.

Miguel Mihura Santos was a Spanish playwright. He is best known for his comedy Tres sombreros de copa (1952), a work of absurd humor that predates similar works by Beckett or Ionesco and that broke with many of the previous conventions of Spanish comic theatre. He was also active as a comics artist.
