«Arabian Nights» is Dominic Cooke's play based on One Thousand and One Nights, published by Nick Hern Books in paperback (96 pages, in English).
The play adapts seven of the tales from One Thousand and One Nights. On her wedding night, Shahrazad must tell stories to King Shahrayar to delay her own execution at dawn. Among these tales appear Ali Baba, Sinbad the Sailor and Princess Parizade, with giant beasts, talking birds and cunning thieves.
The book belongs to the NHB Modern Plays collection and is linked to the Young Vic Theatre production in London.
For those interested in contemporary playwriting and stage adaptations of classic tales.
