Discover with humor the anachronisms, absurdities and historical information, real, invented or distorted by the authors of Astérix. Did the Gauls eat three wild boars a day? Did they carry their chiefs on a shield? Did the Romans spend their time in the thermal baths and in the theater before gorging themselves in their orgies? Each vignette of the adventures of Astérix opens a page of history, some exact, others plausible, most highly fanciful, but always very funny. A book that will delight «Asterixophiles» of all ages.

René Goscinny was a French comic editor and writer, who created the Asterix comic book series with illustrator Albert Uderzo. Born in France to a Jewish family from Poland, he spent his childhood in Argentina where he attended French schools and later lived in the United States for a short period of time. There he met Belgian cartoonist Morris. After his return to France, they collaborated for more than 20 years on the comic series Lucky Luke.
