«Banco» is the autobiographical account by Henri Charrière, sequel to Papillon, published by LGF in paperback (601 pages, in French).
The work continues Henri Charrière's adventures after his escape from the penal colony in French Guiana, now in Venezuela and other Latin American countries. Gold, smuggling and encounters with marginal characters mark his struggle to live in freedom, up to the episode that led him to write these memoirs.
Second installment of the Papillon series, originally published in 1972. This is the French Le Livre de Poche edition (number 4795).
For those who have read Papillon and want to continue with Charrière's American adventures, told in the first person.

Henri Charrière was a French writer who was convicted of murder in 1931 by the French courts and pardoned in 1970. He wrote the 1969 novel Papillon, a memoir of his incarceration in and escape from a penal colony in French Guiana. While Charrière claimed that Papillon was largely true, modern researchers believe that much of the book's material came from other inmates, rather than Charrière himself. Charrière denied committing the murder, although he freely admitted to having committed various other petty crimes prior to his incarceration.
