It explores the figure of Buddha and the origins of Buddhism in the Ganges area: the meaning of «Buda» («awakened», «enlightened»), the foundations of the doctrine, the main schools, and its expansion across Asia to the West. It also addresses the Indian religion prior to Buddha and the various Buddhist traditions.
Published in 2001 in the «Espiritualidad» collection by Editorial de Vecchi, the volume includes numerous color photographs.
