«Cadeas» is the novel by Xabier López López, published by Edicións Xerais in paperback (408 pages, in Galician).
The work interweaves stories such as a love affair linked to Joseph Conrad, an adolescent evoking the Madrid summer visitors, a brawl at a patron saint festival, and a writer's encounter with a reader on the beach. It traverses the Atlantic coast with humor and irony and asks what a novel is and what purpose storytelling serves.
«Cadeas» won the Xerais Novel Prize 2013 and the Fervenzas Literarias Prize 2013 in the narrative category.
A novel for readers of contemporary fiction interested in Galician literature and metafictional games.
