«Café solo» is the young adult novel by Andrea Ferrari, published by Ediciones SM in paperback (128 pages, in Spanish).
Two teenagers are seen on a ledge in a Buenos Aires neighborhood, and the neighbors conclude they are trying to commit suicide. A journalist collects the witnesses' versions for a report, and each tells a different story. The novel uses humor and misunderstandings to show that reality is perceived in many ways.
It is number 158 in the El Barco de Vapor Roja collection and features illustrations by Javier Aramburu. The book was a finalist in 2002 for the Norma-Fundalectura Latin American Children's and Young Adult Literature Award.
A story suitable for readers aged 10 to 14, with humor and neighborhood rumors around human relationships.
