In 'Calypso', David Sedaris escapes to the coast of Carolina to disconnect, but discovers that it is impossible to escape from himself, his family and his own obsessions. With Sedaris' characteristic humor, the book addresses topics such as family, work, addiction and melancholy, offering an honest and funny look at everyday life. Sedaris laughs at himself and his miseries as a form of catharsis necessary to move forward. A book about that moment when you realize that your life has much more past than future. And you look back, while smiling.
