«C'est en hiver que les jours rallongent» is the autobiographical account by Joseph Bialot, published by Éd. du Seuil in 2005 (280 pages, in French).

Joseph Bialot recalls his deportation to Auschwitz, his liberation and the days that followed; the text, written in the first person, stems from his direct experience in the camp. The fear of the watchtowers, the transformation into a deportee and the effort to survive articulate a testimony about the Shoah.

The work is subtitled «récit»; this 2005 edition, in paperback, was published under the Points imprint.
