«Changing Shape» is a children's book of classical mythology by Gillian Cross based on Ovid, published by OUP Oxford in paperback (56 pages, in English).
The book brings together myths from Ovid's Metamorphoses in which the gods transform mortals: Arachne challenges a goddess to a weaving contest, Echo is punished to repeat what she hears, and Narcissus is captivated by his own reflection; it also features Baucis and Philemon's wish to stay together.
It is part of the Oxford Reading Tree TreeTops Greatest Stories series, level 13; selected by Michael Morpurgo and illustrated by Amerigo Pinelli.
It is intended for primary school children, with notes on the inside cover and guided reading activities for the classroom.
