«Colonia DMZ» is the poetry collection by Don Mee Choi, published by Rayo Verde Editorial in paperback (152 pages, in Spanish).
A poetry collection that weaves personal memory with Korea's collective history: the author's return to her native country, the dictatorship, the war, and US imperialism over civilians. Through a collage of testimonies, drawings, maps, and manuscripts, it reflects on exile, translation as anti-neocolonial resistance, and poetry in the face of tragedy.
Translated by Rubén Martín Giráldez. Winner of the 2020 National Book Award for Poetry. The edition includes 36 illustrations.
For readers of contemporary poetry and testimonial narrative, with an interest in Korean history, colonialism, and translation.
