«Corazón tan blanco» is the novel by Spanish writer Javier Marías, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback (404 pages, in Spanish).
Juan Ranz, a newly married translator and interpreter, travels to Havana with his wife and, from a balcony, inadvertently overhears a conversation that stirs his forebodings. As he delves into his father's past, married three times, and the violent death of the first wife, the novel reflects on marriage, secrecy, suspicion, and the weight of speaking and keeping silent.
Originally published in 1992, it received the Premio de la Crítica de Narrativa Castellana in 1992 and the Dublin Literary Award in 1997.
