«Cucú, cantaba la rana» is a children's book written by Montserrat del Amo and illustrated by Tesa González (Alhambra, paperback, 48 pages, in Spanish).
Rafa leaves school and stays on the sidewalk, by the square's traffic light, waiting for his mother to pick him up. As the lights change and people pass by, he talks to passers-by and turns the wait into a small adventure in which he makes friends. Montserrat del Amo starts from a popular song and mixes reality and fantasy.
The book is part of Alhambra's Orange Series and the Contar y cantar collection. Published in 2005; ISBN 9788420550398.
Recommended for ages 6 and up, for children approaching reading with everyday and fantastical stories.
