«Cuentos por teléfono» is a collection of children's stories by Gianni Rodari, published by Editorial Juventud in hardcover (144 pages, in Spanish).
This book brings together short tales with humor, simplicity and optimism. In the framing story, a father who travels for work six days a week calls his daughter every night to tell her a story before she sleeps. Some tales are so witty that the telephone exchange workers suspend calls to listen to them.
This edition was published in 1984; it belongs to the «La Hora del Cuento» collection and is an illustrated edition for children aged 5 to 6.
A book aimed at early readers, although its short, humorous tales also work as shared family reading.
Giovanni Francesco "Gianni" Rodari was an Italian writer and journalist, most famous for his works of children's literature, notably Il romanzo di Cipollino. For his lasting contribution as a children's author, he received the biennial Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1970. He is considered Italy's most important 20th-century children's author, and his books have been translated into many languages, though few have been published in English.
