«Cuerpo a tierra» is the novel by Ricardo Fernández de la Reguera, published by Planeta in hardcover (435 pages, in Spanish).
The novel focuses on the experience of a Falangist soldier on the front of the Spanish Civil War, but shuns the epic: the protagonist goes to war like a lamb to the slaughter, without knowing the real reasons for the conflict, and the war is presented as an absurd disaster.
The edition belongs to Planeta's Nuestros Clásicos Contemporáneos collection, dates from 1996 and has the ISBN 9788408460923.
For readers interested in the Spanish Civil War and in a critical, demystifying view of the war experience.
