«De parte de la princesa muerta» is the historical novel by Kenizé Mourad, published by El País Ediciones in 2005 in hardcover (635 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows Princess Selma, who at the age of seven sees her world crumble in the court of the last Ottoman sultan. Condemned to exile, her family moves to Lebanon and then to India, until a journey takes her to Paris, where she experiences a great love and loses it forever. There she gives birth to the author of this work, which recreates the settings of the Ottoman court, the Lebanese people and the India of the rajas, in a narrative that combines history and family memory.
Work originally published as «De la part de la princesse morte» in 1987. It won the Grand Prix des lectrices de Elle in 1988. This edition is part of the Colección Novela Histórica no. 3 from El País. Translation by Mauricio Wacquez.

Kenizé Hussain de Kotwara, generally known as Kenizé Mourad, is a French journalist and novelist. Until 1983, she was a reporter for the Nouvel Observateur working in the Middle East. She then turned to literature, publishing the international best-seller De la part de la princesse morte in 1987 which told the story of her family. Les jardins de Badalpour, further documenting her family history, followed in 1998.
