«De pasos y entremeses» is an anthology of theater by Lope de Rueda, Cervantes and Hnos. Álvarez Quintero, published by Everest in paperback (80 pages).
It brings together four short pieces of Spanish theater: «Las aceitunas» and «El matón cobarde», by Lope de Rueda; «El retablo de las maravillas», by Cervantes, about some traveling players who deceive; and «Ganas de reír», by the Álvarez Quintero brothers, where a young woman laughs without apparent cause.
It belongs to the Punto de encuentro / Teatro collection and the Leer es Vivir project.
Recommended for young people aged 14 and over, useful as school reading to introduce classical Spanish theater.

Lope de Rueda (c.1505<1510–1565) was a Spanish dramatist and author, regarded by some as the best of his era. A versatile writer, he also wrote comedies, farces, and pasos. He was the precursor to what is considered the golden age of Spanish literature.
