Synopsis of Deseo
Deseo es una novela de la autora austriaca Elfriede Jelinek, ganadora del Premio Nobel de Literatura en 2004. La historia se centra en un director de una empresa de papel que, temeroso del SIDA, decide volver a su esposa para satisfacer sus deseos sexuales, como si ella fuera una prostituta. La novela explora temas de dominación, violencia y la supuesta liberación sexual de la burguesía, todo ello narrado con un lenguaje crudo y erótico que rompe con las convenciones de la literatura femenina. La trama se desarrolla en la confortable residencia del matrimonio, donde se suceden escenas de obscenidad y violencia inusitada, presenciadas por su propio hijo. La mujer, desesperada, busca ayuda en un amante más joven, quien se convierte en su nuevo verdugo. La novela ha sido comparada con Historia del ojo de Bataille por la crudeza de su prosa y su crítica a la placidez burguesa.
