After the Third World War, the sect of the Servants of Wrath deifies Carlton Lufteufel, creator of the weapon that devastated the world, and commissions Tibor McMasters, a painter without limbs, to find the Deus Irae. While the surviving Christians try to prevent it, the painter crosses the radioactive wasteland. The title alludes to the «Dies Irae».
