For the first time in Portuguese, this historic edition presents the complete version of the Digest or Pandects of Emperor Justinian. This Brazilian translation is the only one in the Portuguese language and the first ever produced in Latin America. The work, originally composed of nine thick manuscript volumes, was rediscovered in 2011 after being lost for decades in the archives of the Faculty of Law of Bahia. Through a collaboration between the school and specialists from the University of São Paulo (USP), this first volume is now available, serving as an essential resource for legal scholars, judges, and legal practitioners.
