«Donde las mujeres» is the contemporary fiction novel by Álvaro Pombo, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardcover (288 pages, in Spanish).
The novel follows the eldest daughter of a family who grew up believing that her eccentric mother, her siblings, her aunt Lucía, and a German suitor were superior beings, isolated in an almost insular landscape. A family secret and several events will cause that image to collapse: behind the facade appear coldness, tyranny, and poison, and the narrator must reorder the meaning of her life.
It is part of the Narrativas hispánicas collection (no. 200) from Anagrama, was originally published in 1996, and won the Premio Nacional de Narrativa and the Premio Ciudad de Barcelona.

Álvaro Pombo García de los Ríos is a Spanish poet, novelist and activist.
