«El bar de las grandes esperanzas» is the memoir by J.R. Moehringer, published by Duomo Ediciones in paperback (464 pages, in Spanish).
J.R. Moehringer reconstructs his childhood and youth around the Dickens, his neighborhood bar, a refuge where he finds stories, affection and role models among very different patrons: writers, policemen, gamblers, boxers and movie people. He also evokes his relationship with his mother, the absence of his father and his years as a disc jockey in New York.
Translation from English by Juan José Estrella González; original title: The Tender Bar. The work was originally published in 2005, and this Spanish edition appeared in 2015.
Will appeal to readers of memoirs and coming-of-age stories, and to those who knew the story through the movie 'The Tender Bar'.
