«El bar de las grandes esperanzas» is the autobiographical novel by J. R. Moehringer, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (460 pages, in Spanish).
J. R. Moehringer grew up listening on the radio to the voice of an absent father and found in his uncle's bar a substitute for that paternal figure. There, among drunks, police officers, poets and boxers, he discovered stories that marked his path from childhood to his entry into journalism and adulthood.
Work of non-fiction originally published in English as The Tender Bar. The Spanish translation is by Juanjo Estrella.
For readers of memoirs and coming-of-age stories set in the United States. The book was adapted into a movie directed by George Clooney.
