«El buque fantasma» is the novel by Andrés Trapiello, published by Plaza & Janés Editores in paperback (220 pages, in Spanish).
Martín, narrator and protagonist, recalls his youth during the years of clandestinity and reviews with irony that era of ideals, contradictions and militancy. Trapiello thus composes a parody of the bildungsroman and a distanced reflection on memory, identity and the passage of time.
The cover states «novela ganadora del Premio Internacional de Novela»; first edition published in 1992.
Readers of contemporary Spanish fiction interested in an ironic look at youth, memory and the passage of time.
Andrés Trapiello is a noted Spanish poet and writer. He was born in Manzaneda de Torío, León, and studied at the University of Valladolid. He moved to Madrid in 1975, and has lived in the capital ever since.
