El cajón de los pelos

Synopsis of El cajón de los pelos

«El cajón de los pelos» is a novel by Emmanuelle Pagano, published in 2006 by Lengua de Trapo in paperback (133 pages, in Spanish).

The narrator remembers a neighbor who did many things without permission and her son, a child who sat crooked in his stroller and seemed forbidden to move or speak. Between admiration and shame, she confesses she wrote this story without authorization, only to say belatedly how beautiful that child was as he crossed the courtyard.

Translation by Tamara Gil Somoza. Original title: Le Tiroir à cheveux (2005). Otras Lenguas collection, no. 32.

For readers of contemporary fiction seeking a short novel with a close narrative voice and a compassionate gaze.
