The investigation leads him through archives of the Holy Office, antiquarian bookshops and private libraries, in a mystery plot with nods to the world of books.
The novel was originally published in 1993 and won the Palle Rosenkrantz Prize in 1994. This edition belongs to the Alfaguara Bolsillo collection.
