«El concierto de San Ovidio» is the play by Antonio Buero Vallejo, published by Austral in paperback (224 pages, in Spanish).
Based on an eighteenth-century engraving in which a Parisian impresario humiliates a small orchestra of blind musicians, Buero Vallejo builds a parable about dignity and hope. Written during the Franco regime, the piece alludes to the collective repression of the Spanish people and, at the same time, reflects on the human condition and the search for justice.
The play was originally published in 1962. It belongs to Austral's Contemporánea collection (no. 4), within its Teatro series. This edition includes a study by David Johnston, a specialist in Buero Vallejo.

Antonio Buero Vallejo was a Spanish playwright associated with the Generation of '36 movement and considered the most important Spanish dramatist of the Spanish Civil War.
