El diablo cojuelo es una obra clásica de la literatura española escrita por Luis Vélez de Guevara. Publicada en 1641, esta novela picaresca narra las aventuras y desventuras de un estudiante llamado Cleofás, quien libera a un diablo llamado 'El Cojuelo' de una botella. Agradecido, el diablo lleva a Cleofás en un recorrido por Madrid, mostrándole la vida secreta y los vicios ocultos de la sociedad a través de los tejados. La obra ofrece una crítica satírica y mordaz de las costumbres y la moral de la época, utilizando el humor y la ironía para exponer las hipocresías y contradicciones de la sociedad española del siglo XVII.

Luis Vélez de Guevara
Luis Vélez de Guevara was a Spanish dramatist and novelist. He was born at Écija and was of Jewish converso descent. After graduating as a sizar at the University of Osuna in 1596, he joined the household of Rodrigo de Castro, Cardinal-Archbishop of Seville, and celebrated the marriage of Philip III in a poem signed Vélez de Santander, a name which he continued to use until some years later.
