«El gentil monstruo de Bruselas o Europa bajo tutela» is an essay by Hans Magnus Enzensberger, published by Anagrama in paperback (112 pages).
In this essay, Hans Magnus Enzensberger examines distrust of the European Union and the legitimacy deficit of its institutions: citizens see Brussels as a remote body that legislates without accountability. He also analyzes the tutelary relationship between European technocracy and the citizenry, and how that power is exercised.
The essay, whose original title is «Sanftes Monster Brüssel oder Die Entmündigung Europas», was translated from German by Richard Gross. The Spanish edition was published in 2012.
Aimed at readers interested in European politics, critical essays and political philosophy.
