«El Geperut i altres contes de Les mil i una nits» is an anthology of tales by Brian Alderson and Agustín Sánchez Aguilar, in paperback from Vicens Vives.
The volume brings together ten stories from One Thousand and One Nights: humorous tales, animal fables and wonder tales. In that magical world, a hunchback dies several times in one night, an ox and a donkey plot a trick, and Ali Baba grows rich by saying «ábrete, sésamo». It includes illustrations by Michael Foreman and an appendix with activities.
It belongs to the Cucanya Aitana collection and is supplementary material for Primary Education in the Valencian Community. First edition 2008.
Suitable for young readers and for those starting out in Valencian, with short stories that help build vocabulary and oral expression.
Brian Alderson is an author, translator, critic, and children's book historian. He has translated fairy tales, is a contributor to Books for Keeps and was children's literature editor for The Times. He founded the Children's Books History Society.
