Synopsis of El islote de los perros

In 1910, Istanbul faces an overpopulation of stray dogs. The Sultan decides to send them to a deserted island, where they are expected to starve to death. Klara, a Sephardic girl, and Sait, a Muslim boy, become friends and decide to visit the island. Horrified by the conditions, they join a young Greek shoeshiner and an old fisherman to save the abandoned dogs. This touching story explores themes of friendship, solidarity, and justice against the exotic backdrop of Istanbul.
