«El otro barrio» is the contemporary novel by Elvira Lindo, published by Planeta in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
Ramón Fortuna, a fifteen-year-old raised overprotected by his mother and three other women, becomes involved in the deaths of several people and is admitted to an institution. There he discovers that what he knew about his family was a lie; more than proving his innocence, he wants to free himself from the web of deceit that prevents him from knowing himself.
It is Elvira Lindo's first novel for adults. This commemorative 20th anniversary edition (1998-2018) includes a prologue by the author.
May appeal to readers of contemporary fiction; due to its teenage protagonist and family secrets, also to a young audience.
Escritora, guionista y periodista española, autora de la serie infantil Manolito Gafotas y de novelas para adultos como 'A corazón abierto'. Ganó el Premio Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil en 1998.
