«El padre de Blancanieves» is the contemporary fiction novel by Belén Gopegui, published by Debolsillo in paperback (336 pages, in Spanish).
Manuela, a teacher and mother of three, complains at her supermarket about an order with spoiled frozen goods. The complaint leads to the delivery driver's dismissal, and he comes to ask for an explanation. The encounter destabilizes the family and brings her closer to an assembly that seeks to intervene in the collective; the story links the private with social criticism.
It belongs to the Contemporánea collection from Debolsillo. It was originally published in 2007; this edition is from 2015. It won the Premio La tormenta en un vaso in 2008.
Recommended for readers of contemporary Spanish fiction looking for stories with social and political depth.
