«El papa Borgia» is the biographical essay by Lola Galán and J.C. Deus, published by Punto de Lectura in paperback (544 pages, in Spanish).
«El papa Borgia» starts from the black legend that turned Alexander VI into an archetype of ambition and decadence. The authors, Lola Galán and J.C. Deus, trace the available documentation to reconstruct his papacy and analyze whether he governed the Church effectively or used it to elevate his family, against the image spread by chroniclers and novelists.
Originally published in 2005 by Punto de Lectura, within its Essay collection. Subtitle: «Un inédito Alejandro VI liberado al fin de la leyenda negra».
For readers of historical biography interested in the Renaissance papacy and in contrasting the figure of Alexander VI with his legend.
