«El retorn de Voltaire» is the contemporary novel by Martí Domínguez, published by Destino CAT in hardcover (232 pages, in Catalan).
Voltaire, an octogenarian exiled for over twenty years, returns to Paris with his secretary Wagnière, sensing he will not go back to his estate at Ferney. He wavers between confessing to receive a Christian burial or dying as the patriarch of the philosophers, while planning to triumph in the capital.
The work won the Premi Josep Pla 2007 and is the first volume in the L'Ancora collection.
Recommended for readers of contemporary fiction interested in the Enlightenment, the eighteenth century, and the figure of Voltaire.
