«La insostenible lleugeresa del ser» is the Catalan edition of the contemporary novel «La insostenible levedad del ser», by Milan Kundera, in paperback.
Set in 1960s Czechoslovakia, between the Prague Spring and the Soviet invasion, the novel follows Tomás, Teresa, Sabina and Franz. Their relationships, marked by fidelity and betrayal, sustain a reflection on the lightness and weight of decisions, freedom, love and the meaning of existence.
Original title: «Nesnesitelná lehkost bytí»; the work was originally published in Czech in 1984. This Catalan edition belongs to the L'Àncora collection (no. 2).
Aimed at readers of contemporary fiction and philosophical novels, it is also a common work in reading clubs.
Milan Kundera was a Czech and French novelist. Kundera went into exile in France in 1975, acquiring citizenship in 1981. His Czechoslovak citizenship was revoked in 1979, but he was granted Czech citizenship in 2019.
