«El secreto de la modelo extraviada» is the novel by Eduardo Mendoza, published by Seix Barral in paperback (320 pages, in Spanish).
The detective, unjustly confined in an asylum, recalls a case from the eighties: the murder of a model and his use as a scapegoat. Years later he reopens it, visits old haunts and seeks out those involved in a very different Barcelona, though perhaps not so different.
Fifth installment of the series The Unnamed Detective or Doctor Sugrañes' Patient; part of the Biblioteca Breve collection.
Recommended for readers of mystery and humor fiction, especially those familiar with the detective's earlier adventures by Mendoza.
