«El señor de Bembibre» is the romantic novel by Enrique Gil y Carrasco published by Castalia Ediciones in paperback (468 pages, in Spanish).
The work narrates the love story between the Templar knight Álvaro Yáñez and the noblewoman Beatriz, set against the dissolution of the Order of the Temple in the early fourteenth century. Gil y Carrasco conceived it as an original novel rather than a historical novel in the manner of Walter Scott, so the sentimental plot weighs more than the historical context. The edition, prepared by Jean-Louis Picoche, includes a biographical and critical introduction, bibliography, notes, and an appendix.
This edition belongs to the Clásicos Castalia collection, number 153, and includes an introduction and notes by Jean-Louis Picoche.
Recommended for readers of Spanish Romantic literature and classics with critical apparatus.
