«El tió de Nadal» is the children's picture book by Anna Canyelles and Roser Calafell, published by La Galera in paperback (24 pages, in Catalan).
El tió de Nadal has arrived very hungry and keeps eating: nuts, mandarins, turrones and bread crusts. The story recreates the Catalan tradition in which children cover the log with a blanket, hit it with a stick and get it to release the gifts and sweets it hides.
It is number 80 in the «Tradicions» collection, from La Galera, about popular Catalan celebrations; other titles in the series are «La castanyada» and «El caganer».
Recommended for children aged 4 to 6 and for families who want to introduce them to Catalan Christmas traditions.
