«El último encuentro» is the psychological novel by Sándor Márai, published by Salamandra Bolsillo in paperback (192 pages, in Spanish).
After forty years without seeing each other, two men who were inseparable friends arrange to have dinner in a hunting castle at the foot of the Carpathians. Between them lies a secret linked to the memory of a woman, and the evening becomes a verbal duel in search of the truth. The setting, once splendid, heralds the end of an era.
Spanish translation of «A gyertyák csonkig égnek», from 1942. The work won the Premi Llibreter for narrative; this Salamandra Bolsillo edition is from 2010.
For adult readers and fans of literary and psychological fiction, particularly Central European literature of the twentieth century.
