«El valor de elegir» is the philosophical essay by Fernando Savater, published by Editorial Ariel in paperback (198 pages, in Spanish).
The essay asks what freedom is and why choosing constitutes us as humans. Savater analyzes choice, the voluntary and the involuntary, intention and chance, and proposes in its first part an anthropology of freedom. The second offers exercises of freedom that connect these reflections with concrete experiences.
